GENOMICS

Genomics is the study of all of a person’s genes (the genome), including interactions of those genes with each other and with the person’s environment
EPIGENOMICS
The study of all of the epigenetic changes in a cell. Epigenetic changes are changes in the way genes are switched on and off without changing the actual DNA sequence. They may be caused by age and exposure to environmental factors, such as diet, exercise, drugs, and chemicals.
TRANSCRIPTOMICS
The study of all RNA molecules in a cell. RNA is copied from pieces of DNA and contains information to make proteins and perform other important functions in the cell. Transcriptomics is used to learn more about how genes are turned on in different types of cells and how this may help cause certain diseases, such as cancer.
PROTEOMICS
The study of the structure and function of proteins, including the way they work and interact with each other inside cells.
METABOLOMICS
The study of all the chemical changes that take place in a cell or an organism. These changes make energy and the materials cells and organisms need to grow, reproduce, and stay healthy. Metabolism also helps get rid of toxic substances.
